In the beginning...

To start things off I feel it is necessary to give a short summary about myself.
My name is Nick Powers, this is my second semester at Washburn and my first blog.  I lived in Wichita, Kansas before moving to Topeka for higher learning.  I'm still trying to figure out what my major will be but as of now I am leaning towards mass media, or a type of writing degree.
I've always thought about starting a blog but the problem I experience on my own is the same that I have run into for this class; I don't know how I am going to keep my posts consistent.  Its not that I don't have enough to write about, its just that unless I am writing an article or essay covering one thing, I get bored with what I am doing and move on to the next thing.
There are a few topics I feel that I could write extensively about but am not sure if it would fit into the instructors parameters for the blog.  I am an avid gamer.  I always keep up to date on the newest games and systems or new innovations in video game technology.  This has been a hobby of mine since I was given a Nintendo 64 for my fifth birthday.  Despite my near obsession with video games,  literature is something that I very much enjoy when I find the write book, or author.
I was never really a big fan of sports; mainly due to my lack of athletic ability and my preoccupation with video games.  During my sophomore year of high school though, I started boxing, not only because I had always had an interest in sport, but also to lose the massive amount of weight I had gained while being terrible at sports.  Unlike the other sports that I made poor attempts at, this one stuck and I loved every minuet of it.  With 110 pounds lost and a new and improved lifestyle the keep it off, I had found my athletic ability underneath layers of fat.  From that I feel that I could write about boxing,  motivation, or even nutrition.  I am not motivational speaker, a nutritionist, or Harry Lederman, but those are subjects I would love to learn more about.
After all that though, the biggest thing that is on my mind is the human condition.  Why people act and react the way they do?  What makes a person think a certain way, or what makes a person who they are now.  The thought process we humans go through in our everyday lives that affect how or what will happen to us in the future;  it is something that I could dwell on for hours.  Like previously though,  I always worry about starting something like that up because I'm not an expert and I don't want to come across as an amateur pretending to be a professional.
With all that said I can't say that this looks much like a blog post but hopefully I will learn quickly how to catch readers and make a legitimate blog, or else suffer the consequences of a poor grade.
